Why do people still litter?

Pennywise will come to eat you if you litter.

Well, for one it’s easier to throw your garbage out of the window for someone else to deal with. What’s not easy is putting your trash in the map pocket of your car, or God forbid you have a small trash bag in your car, and then emptying it out at the next destination.

The worst litter job I’ve ever seen was a man throwing entire bags of McDonald’s drive-through out of his window. I’m not sure if he didn’t like the food or maybe his family didn’t appreciate all the hard work he performed that week and he disposed of their dinner in protest of their ungratefulness. Nonetheless, I saw the car rock back and forth, and then three large bags of food flew. They were full bags too, fries burst out and went everywhere. It was quite a spectacle to behold.

What to Do with Unwanted Items: Sell, Donate, or Trash?

It all end up here

Have extra stuff laying around your house? Why don’t you try to make a few bucks online by selling it? How about donating it for a tax write-off? How about neither, just throw it in the garbage. Sometimes that’s the best choice.

Selling

People want stuff for free. You post an item and they offer you half of your asking price. If you provide a free item then they will want you to deliver it. Better yet, they will want you to pay them to take it off your hands. Selling on eBay or Amazon has become a hassle. When you pay all the seller fees, merchant fees, and postage, you are left with about half of what the item is worth.

Donating

This is a better option. Let other people look through your bags of unwanted items and they can throw it away. The tax write-off is barely worth it. For kids’ clothes, give them to friends or family, they will be responsible for throwing them in the trash now.

Trash it

Unless you want Goodwill throwing your stuff away you can save them the trouble. Leave it visible on trash day and people will pick it from the rubbish like mining for treasure.

If you have extra stuff you should probably think about why you are buying so much stuff. Give your items away to someone who needs them.

Disney cast members do a fantastic job at keeping garbage out of your way. However, they are usually concerned with trash on the ground. I guess if you are going to litter, then why not be skilled at it. Not sure how this skittles wrapper ended up here, but I’m impressed. Won’t be long before guests will fling their refuse into the trees on the main street town square.
